Baseball On My Brain

Starting with a sad sight…

Sports is full of highs and lows – the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, and so on. Tonight’s post starts on a sad note…a thin crowd outside a ballpark prior to a game.

Ballparks are meant to be full — and the area around them is meant to be electric. Streets should be full, people should be excited, and the buzz should be in the air. None of that was happening tonight.

In some ways, it’s kind of become a downer to come around the ballpark…and look, I’ll be the first person who wants it to change. When the scalpers have dwindled to only the most dedicated (or is it insane?), you know something isn’t right.

Anyway, enough on that. Get to the ballpark folks, seriously.

Sucks to be at a game when you’re getting your butt handed to you, as the Mariners are currently, down 10-0 after three and a half innings. Oh well, sometimes you’re the lead dog, sometimes you’re just looking at a furry butt.

I’m convinced that some ballplayers intend to look dumb in their photos. Frank Catalanotto is rockin’ a serious Fu Manchu that I just don’t get, short of it was a media day thing.

Ramon Vazquez is also rocking the Mexican cabana boy look.

If you missed this story, well, read it now. It involves blow-up dolls. Enjoy.

That’s enough for now. Maybe more later.
