Baseball On My Brain

Lord knows I’m not a football fan. I’ll watch a game if it’s on and nothing else strikes my fancy, or if I’m out with the guys. But don’t try and get me to sit out in the cold watching the game.

As I was in downtown Seattle today prior to the Seahawks-Bears game, I couldn’t help finding the irony in the uber-masculine football fans walking around wearing a jersey with another guy’s name on the back.

Maybe it’s not as big a deal as I make it, but I do find it kind of funny. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a jersey or t-shirt with another guy’s name on it. (Excluding brands of course…don’t call me on the carpet because I own a pair of Levi Strauss jeans.)

Another difference between baseball and football — it’s totally normal to see a baseball jersey without a name/number on the back – but you’d never see a football jersey without them. I don’t know if this is intentional or just coincidence, but it’s been sitting in my brain most of the day, so I had to get it out here.

Much better. Is it spring yet?
